"Victoria" Earrings

“Victoria” Earrings are created as a healing portal for survivors of sexual assault.

I pray  that you know your light can never be taken. It is still here as strong as the day you were created. This is a prayer for the downfall of the fog that covers you. Underneath it all, you have already risen. You are already the phoenix. I pray you open up like the constellations. A radical liberation to the core. It may seem impossible, I pray for your hope. 

May you know you are always surrounded by angels.

Proceeds from “Victoria” and my forthcoming collection are going to help survivors of rape and war in the Congo. It is a continuation of a benefit I began in 2009, inspired and educated on the war by Lynn Nottage's play “Ruined” while I was a Theatre student at Howard. On the days I felt I couldn't get out of bed, I thought of The Congo.

“Victoria” is named after my late godmother who, along with my mother , made sure neither my sister or I suffered what they did growing up, keeping us safe as children. “Victoria” named for the victory we all are already. I love you.

The "Victoria" Earrings are completely hollowed and lightweight. They are the thinnest earrings I have ever created at .45mm thin and strongly built. They are made from white sapphire and brass, with the black version being plated in black rhodium. White sapphire was chosen to represent purity, strength of spirit and connection with the higher spiritual realms. The sapphire coming from "Victoria's" body represents her everlasting light.  The sapphires around her represent her guiding angels and the large sapphire over her head represents God's light. I chose gemstones as they are strong and everlasting like our spirit.

"Victoria" was originally sculpted by my hand from clay during my stay in St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica in 2021.
